The Secrets of Indonesia's Seamounts | OceanX Expedition
OceanX
Hidden in the deep sea surrounding Sulawesi, Indonesia, a chain of underwater mountains creates an oasis of life. Seamounts are hotspots of biodiversity, fueling connections between ocean currents, nutrients, and creatures from plankton to whales. Aboard OceanXplorer, researchers from BRIN used the vessel's advanced technology, including eDNA sequencing and submersibles, to explore these little-known ecosystems and gather data that will help conserve Indonesia's marine resources.
