Rainforest Trust Partner Spotlight: Wild Boar Rescued from a Snare Trap in Vietnam
Rainforest Trust
This video series highlights the conservation efforts of our local partners, working on the ground to protect the world’s most important tropical habitats. During a routine patrol in Vietnam’s Ea So forest, members of a Community Patrol Team discovered a Wild Boar (Sus scrofa) caught in a metal snare and estimated to have been trapped for two to three days. Despite the risks involved, the team carefully secured the animal, removed the snare, and released it back into the forest. The rescue didn’t come without a little drama, because the determined wild boar immediately fought back, sending two members scrambling into trees! The team described feeling “joy and happiness” when they saw the wild boar survive and return to the forest. For them, the rescue was about more than saving one animal.
